oh boy…
July 31, 2008
It’s been an insanely busy couple of days around here. Just when I was worried about a “summer lull,” things have really heated up! Here’s the long and short of it…
I joined Twitter…so those of you who want to keep up with the madness…can! I encourage you to give it a try, as it seems like a neat way to stay connected.
Nick, Vayda and I are planning a weekend in Fernandina, in celebration of my brother’s…(or little Brosef, as I like to call him)…college graduation. It should be fun to get the whole funky bunch together…but so many loose ends to tie up before we leave.
For those of you just bursting at the seams for a Vayda-dog update…she too, will be joining us this weekend. She had a most luxurious day today, as she visited her friends at First Chatham Bank…you know they treat her like royalty over there…and she had a trip to the spa to get her nails trimmed and ears cleaned prior to party time. Don’t want my daughter looking like a drowned rat when she sees distant relatives for the first time in a spell.
On an especially happy note, Nick found about 5 years worth of photos that I thought were lost in the new computer transfer. I was sick for days when I thought I had lost that chapter in our lives…I’m thinking a good solid backup is in order this time around.
And lastly, I had a few hours to prep the walls at the Pirate’s House yesterday. I’m itching for my new paint to arrive, but it looks as if it will show after our departure tomorrow…which will likely delay the paint start date until Tuesday…what can you do? Here’s your before photo of Captain Flint’s Hall.
Isn’t it dreamy? Hurry UPS man, bring me some paint!
hopefully by the time you read this…

a sweet surprise…
July 23, 2008
came in the mail yesterday! One of my clients finally had my pen & ink of his house printed up on notes, and was so kind as to send me one! I was even more impressed, that he took such care as to have my name printed on the back. (Ray, you’re the best! I can’t wait to work it into a Christmas Card for you!)
Anywho, this kind gesture reminded me, that I’ve yet to post much about my new notes to this blog! For months I’ve been working with local stationer Turtle Creek. (if you haven’t visited their little boutique at the corner of Montgomery Crossroads and Whitebluff, then you are really missing out!) Most anyone that commissions a pen & ink of their home or business, also likes to have the image printed on notes, and for years, I just turned over a disk to the client, and told them to go to the printer of their choice. In turn, some people never took the time to find a printer, others found a printer but neglected to give me a byline, and some were of better quality than others…after a very busy 2007 Holiday Season, I decided it was time to do the leg work, and find a printer. Turtle Creek just happens to have the best stock around, and at a good rate. Each note is printed on fine Crane Stationary, and at roughly 3.5″ x 5″, they are the perfect size for the “anything” note! Here’s a peek…
I just love that they got my little nesting bird on the back, and it’s just amazing how something as simple as an embossed edge can add so much to the overall feel. Thank you Turtle Creek for roughing it out, and making this little idea of mine a reality!
Melody Martin! Congrats! Special thanks to all of you who entered! It was great fun, and I look forward to many more contests in the future…so be sure to check back once in a while
Just to show the true randomness of the process…here’s how it worked. I assigned a number to each entrant, by the order in which they left comments. Melody, just happened to be number 12. With the help of this little site, I generated the winning number…
And there you have it! Anywho…hope you all had a stellar weekend! Nick and I spent some time in Hilton Head with his folks, and fried our little faces, but it was great to take some time to enjoy summer in all it’s glory!
hugs, and thanks again to all who participated in this little project!

Caty / Mary update…
July 20, 2008
It’s been a long time coming on these two portraits. Mary (on the right) is still quite undeveloped, Caty (on the left) is approaching the “over-worked” line…it’s a delicate balance, and thus I haven’t pushed. I’ll work on them for a few hours, then come back to them the next day. (Which is also, a lovely way to work with oils, as it allows the previous layer time to dry.)

I’ll be so thrilled to finally peel the tape off of these two…maybe tomorrow?
On another note, don’t forget that today is the last day to enter my Blog-A-Versary Give-A-Way!
