Fun with Lace – Wedding Programs

So many exciting things in the works for 2012! I’ve been designing lots of Wedding Programs (think bi-fold, tri-fold, fans, and now lace) with hopes of listing them for sale in my shop soon.

The problem is, I’d rather be creating than tediously listing items for sale on etsy…so if you’re interested, feel free to call or email me for more information.

I could get myself into serious trouble shopping for lace trim online. Fun fun!

The First 12 days of 2012

So far…200 wedding invitations, 20 baby shower invitations, 14 engagement party invitations…2 custom pen & ink commissions from start to finish…5 trips to the post office (resolution: pick certain days to ship and stick to it)…and a quick trip to Florida for a dress fitting. A feverish pace, but if you believe that the stars have any say, I was doomed from the start.

Looking Back at 2011

I spent the greater portion of the year finding my niche (unexpectedly) in the wedding industry. It started with a few brides and quickly snowballed into a full blown line of wedding paper-goods…most of which have yet to make it to my wedding section…(goal for 2012)

Speaking of weddings, I officiated one! (Thank you Val & Pat for a once in a lifetime honor – love, Officiant-O!)

Love, there was just so much of it! Alan Jr., aka Brosef, proposed to sweet Elizabeth…finally, a sister for me!

Transitioning our sweet Lee Anne from life at home into a nursing facility was by far most challenging obstacle of 2011. I have a long way to go accepting what HD has done to our family, but I can honestly say, that we have felt God’s Grace throughout the process. To all of you who have taken the time to write letters, send family photos and care packages, and pay visits, you have no idea how much it means to all of us. It warms my heart to walk into her room and see just how loved she is.

In other news, my baking skills have certainly improved since the first of the year.

I even learned to make Granny’s Famous Cherry Pie…

It took me 31 years to catch it, but I officially have Baby Fever.

I found time to hang family photos down the hallway, and it makes me smile every day when I walk by them.

Mom taught me how to Tie Dye, though I’m still pondering how I will find use for this technique in 2012.

We fed buffalo. The herd of 30 arrived in McIntosh County in 2011, talk of the town!

Mom’s face here = priceless!

We capped off the year with trip to Chicago for Christmas. Tonight, we’ll keep it low key. Just the two of us, our pups and a fire in the backyard. A little peace before the firestorm that is 2012 arrives with all it’s surprises.

A Year With Thomas Jay

One year ago today, we welcomed an emaciated, abused, and timid little Frenchie-Boston mix into our home. It was an impulse decision, (not unlike Vayda’s adoption), and one of the best we’ve ever made. It’s been a true pleasure getting to know Tommy and watching him come out of his shell. The experience of taking in a grown dog varies greatly from raising one from puppy-hood, but in some ways it’s even more rewarding…

One of the first things we discovered about Tommy…he likes to sleep….alot…

He puts a smile on my face nearly everyday with his clever positioning…

While Vayda meets me at the side of my bed every morning, wagging her tail, begging for a treat…Tommy prefers to sleep in…(he isn’t too fond of me snapping pics of him at 7:30am either)

He’s needed some TLC…2 big surgeries and one torn dew claw. He’s a trooper, this little man!

The best part of it all was that Vayda got a baby brother. She’s taught him to fetch, protects him when we’re around other dogs, and though we still see some sibling rivalry at times, they are all around best buds.

Happy Birthday my sweet lil man! We can’t imagine our lives without you!

*P.S. if a puppy / dog is on your Christmas list this year, I sure hope you’ll consider adoption! If you have fallen in love with a specific breed, check to see if there is a rescue organization for that specific breed nearby…but know that it’s even more fun to watch a mutt-baby grow!
