a new beginning

July 23, 2007

As many of you know, I will not be returning to teach this fall.  It was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make, and I will miss all the kids tremendously.   I swear I learned more from the kids, than I ever taught them, and I felt that if I couldn’t give them 110% of me, then I shouldn’t be in that room.  On the brighter side, I was able to pretty much “hand pick” my successor.  She is vibrant and well educated, and I’m certain the children will LOVE her.  I’m meeting with her today to “pass the torch” and close a very special chapter in my life.   Although, I’ve resigned from teaching the masses, I am quite fortunate to have one extremely talented young artist interested in private art lessons.  We begin tomorrow with a 2 hour session, and I look forward to working with a young woman that reminds me so much of myself at her age.
