Special thanks to Jody from ThePoint for including my little lemon in her Etsy Treasury.

Quite refreshing for the dead of winter, right?  To find out more about these lovely gems, CLICK!

In other exciting news, I bought the Epson!  I can’t wait to get  my hands on it…looks like it’s set to arrive on Monday…oh it will be like Christmas!  Thanks to all of you who helped steer me in that direction.

feeling torn…

January 27, 2009

Sorry to have neglected you blog lovin’ folk!  I must say, January always seems the month to tie up loose ends, attend to the real business side of things…revamping this, tweaking that, and taxes…ugh….taxes!  Oh and we bought a wii…so yeah, a little distracted to say the least.  The other missing part seems to be inspiration…since my printer is a jerk…(there I said it)…I’ve had to fore go many of my initial January plans, and search for inspiration elsewhere.  I have an idea of the direction in which I want to take things, but it hasn’t exactly beat me in the head or anything…so I’m holding out.

According to Nick, I’ve been talking up a storm in my sleep about printers…I’m still torn as to which beast to go with…which one would you go with?

feeling loved…

Nothing makes an artist happier than seeing his / her work appreciated by other artists.  I was pleased as punch that fellow southern (though displaced) artista Victoria Bennett Beyer wanted my work in her collection…now she’s given me quite the write-up on her blog!  You must  CHECK IT OUT! (thanks Vickie!  I can’t wait to get my Glass Diamonds print)

In other news, Vayda’s working hard to raise awareness for Spay Day 2009…of course the puppy prizes are pretty enticing too…Be sure to check out her little page and place a vote…you know she’s the cutest!

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday

In addition to the loss of my beloved RockStar Reds and Eat Your Greens series, seems my printer will no longer be able to accommodate the 8×10 size either…eeek!

While I’ve enjoyed this journey from the Southern Girl’s Cookbook, to the Taste of the Month with Skirt!, and ultimately their last hoorah at The Produce Stand, I’m thinking it’s time to move in a new direction.  Time to get back to my painting roots, and come up with a new series to keep me up at night.

Fret not, my foodie loving friends… your collections just became a  little more exclusive!  These were produced in very limited editions, so if you’ve been pondering that Fish for Dinner, now’s the time to click click buy!

doodle?

January 21, 2009

or character design?  Perhaps mindless drawing may be the most natural way to achieve  doodle evolution…I’m not quite sure, but I’ve enjoyed two full days of it….ahh January bliss!

feed the beast…

January 19, 2009

Yep…today’s one of those days when I  just need to throw some paint around, for no good reason other than to nurture the creative spirit that’s been tied to this computer, mountains of email and messages, wedding wedding wedding, and blah blah blah.  You get what I’m saying…right?… I’ve not got the time to explain…but should you happen to call / email / knock on my studio door…don’t be offended should I not respond…I’m just feeding the beast so to speak…I mean, it is a national holiday right?

The Beast – watercolor, ink, photoshop, and 10 minutes time.

I had plans…lots of them…with coordinating lists (long ones)…a treasure trove of ideas…good, solid plans.  But you know what they say, sometimes the best laid plans fail, and that is just what’s happened.

It is with great sadness, that I must announce the end of  production for my Eat Your Greens and Rockstar Reds series of canvas prints.   My printer can no longer accommodate the 6″x6″ size, and I’ve yet to find a place that can even come close to touching their price.  While I could produce them, and sell them at a higher price, it has always been  my goal to keep my work attainable…so this is it!  If you visit The Produce Stand, you’ll see there are still some to be had, and they are now of a very limited edition.  Only one of each Rockstar Red was ever created, so they are truly one-of-a-kind!

Thanks to all of you who helped support this line of work, collected these little gems, and spread the word!  I’m honored for you to have them…and who knows…maybe I’ll find a way to bring them back to life in the coming months via a different size, medium etc…(sometimes goodbye’s don’t last forever)

On to the bright side…

It’s a new year and there are new plans in the works.  I have my eye on a state of the art printer, that will allow me to print archival quality prints in-house.  The best part…I get to nurture my inner control freak, and totally eliminate the middle-man.  I’ll minimize my overhead and have the opportunity to “print-to-order,”  and you’ll see my work a little more affordable to those of you who love art but can’t quite afford the investment.  “Good Things” (as Martha would say) are on the horizon.

it occurs to me…

January 16, 2009

that on this early Friday morning, we are nearing (among other events) Valentine’s Day! Before my schedule heats up, be sure to get your custom pen & ink drawings commissioned.  I mean what could be sweeter than an elegant sketch of your love nest?  Or surprise your sweetie with a sketch of their childhood home!  All I need are the best photos you can find…(if you’re local to Savannah, I’ll gladly take them for you)  Oh and if you get your order in quick, there will still be time for my friends at Turtle Creek to print your custom drawing onto beautiful Crane Stationery! Skip on over to The Ink Lab for more information.

Oh and speaking of Turtle Creek…I’ve got their very own custom ink in the works…here’s the rough pencil sketch…

Lee Lee’s Sweet Iced Tea that is… (16×20) to be exact.  It won’t be staying on my mantle though.  This one will ship to the wild west of Wyoming, the  home of Victoria Bennett Beyer! I can’t think of anything sweeter!  If you haven’t been following her photo laced blog, or visited her online store, you are truly missing out.  It’s always an honor to have another artist appreciate your work.  Thanks Vickie!
