the end

My Australian vacation ends here.

I’m not quite sure what Flat Heather did to deserve this, but at least Bekah made it back home.

in Australia of course.  Sure am glad I packed that fancy dress.  We were treated to a spectacular viewing of Wicked.

Who’s that handsome flat chap?  Flat Ben, of course.  Bekah’s beau didn’t want to miss out on the fun either…and well, sometimes it’s nice not to be the only small figure in the room.

What a view!

I must be in Australia mates!

Speaking of food…I sold three Foodie Prints yesterday!  No more Lemon Tree. I’m a little sad, as this was always a favorite, but I feel confident it will go to a nice home.  Get yours now before they are all gone!

Packing for Flat Heather proved equally as challenging as packing for myself.  Better to be over prepared than under.  Right?

fhsuitcase

Clockwise from left:

1.  Comfy PJ’s with sleeper mask

2.  Everyday wear for shopping excursions

3.  Outback gear and hiking boots

4.  Fancy Dress for a night out (with matching gloves should it happen to by chilly)

5.  and per Nick’s request…Bear’s Gear.

At first the Bears Gear seemed a bit absurd considering Flat Heather was on her way to AUSTRALIA of all places…but go figure, she incurred a 6 hour lay over in Chicago.

Needless to say, I’m glad she was prepared.

More adventures from Flat Heather’s Australian vacation will be posted in the coming days…be sure to come back!

*Flat Heather’s couture wardrobe is truly one-of-a-kind.  All clothes were custom fitted, hand-cut,  and watercolored with care.

the madness of it all…

April 17, 2009

Spring always seems to be a busy time of year…but this year takes the cake (quite literally when you think about it)…I mean, the wedding is less than 6 months away…(I actually just picked out the cake yesterday)  The house hunt is in full force, and this DIY chick, just keeps pickin’ up projects.  All good, fun things of course.  However, it has limited my time to keep the rest of the world updated on the latest FLYoung goodness…and for that, I am terribly sorry!  The good news is, Flat Heather has returned from Australia, and after she collects her thoughts for a bit, she’ll be ready to share stories.

While I’m caught in blog limbo, take a moment to visit my friend AJ’s shop.  She refuses to call herself an artist, but her pieces are without question works of art.  Once I start picking out honeymoon attire, I’ll have to coordinate with a few items for her shop.

She has an eye for presentation, and is quite possibly one of the friendliest people you will find on Etsy.  A true gem if you will.  Oh and I just noticed she’s opened a second store, DandyDwelling. Vintage goodness for your home!  All the modern accessories in the world can’t tell a story like these fancy old finds.  Wouldn’t you just love to have these salt & pepper shakers? Pea-Pie-Precious!

Easter Recap

April 14, 2009

I ventured home for Easter…the first time in nearly 10 years.

eastereggs

It was great to see that not much had changed.

easterbrosef

The Brosef still gets excited for the Easter Bunny.  I apologize for the blurry photo…he was bouncing around like a kid who had consumed a few too many peeps.

easterleeanne

Lee Anne’s competitive nature was out in full force.  Not only did she produce the prettiest eggs, she also dominated wii bowling.

easterdadcake

Dad baked and constructed the famous Bunny Cake.  Oh how I missed Bunny Cake.

I helped decorate Mr. Bunny, although, the whiskers were all Dad’s idea.

Fun times indeed.  Hope the Easter Bunny was good to you all!
