“Sweet Potato Blossom,” ©2009 Heather L. Young
Only this time they’ve been printed with the finest archival inks onto lush epson paper…and the best part?!?…I’ve just listed them at $18! How’s that for the Foodie on your list? But wait…there’s more…

Forsyth Park Fountain – Savannah, GA
November 21, 2009
Probably the most recognized image of Savannah, the Forsyth Park Fountain. For those of you unfamiliar with Savannah, Forsyth Park is the place to be on bright sunny days…Vayda and I go there to people (and dog) watch from time to time. It seems as though there is always something fun going on at the park, a festival, a concert, etc…if you ever make it here, be sure to take a walk through the moss draped live oaks, and flourishing azaleas…it’s a real jewel of Savannah…

Mystery Pet Portrait
November 20, 2009
Tis the season for custom Pet Portraits and Pen & Inks! I love the hustle and bustle this time of year, the steady stream of work in the studio, the variety of subject matter, reuniting with old clients, and meeting new ones…it’s an exciting time…the only downside, is having to keep everything top-secret until after Christmas…so here’s a sneak peek of a mystery pup in progress…don’t you just love that patterned paper? …and those giant ears!
P.S. I still have time for more Christmas commissions! Email heather@FLYoungStudio.com for a quote and time estimate.
Bonaventure Cemetery Fountain – Savannah
November 19, 2009
One of the most beautiful places in Savannah, Bonaventure Cemetery. I’m really preferring this color version to the old b&w.

The Waving Girl – Savannah River Street
November 18, 2009
This time, a peek at the “uncropped” painting. I rather like the contrast of the tightly sketched line work vs. the loosely applied washes. Thoughts on framing? I’m tempted to find a framing style that would allow for these haphazard washes to be viewed…

a little nostalgia for your Tuesday..

Bekah came across a card, addressed to me, from say 3 or 4 years ago.
I remember Miss Joy quite well, and this just warms my heart!
Little finds like this remind me of how much I enjoyed teaching art. I think we are all born with a full supply of creativity, that sadly, whittles away the older we get. Working with the little ones (white at times exhausting) proved a constant source of inspiration…maybe one day, I’ll sign up again.
