I love it when a couple has a vision and enough lead time for me to create something custom.   Julia and Richard are getting married at the gorgeous Driehaus Museum in Chicago.  They wanted to incorporate a tree on their invitations and an overall Art Deco feel.  The first place I look for inspiration is the wedding venue itself.  Wedding invitations are the first impression your guests get of your Big Day, so if you can tie in the venue / setting in the little details, it makes for a nice added touch.  The Driehaus has an incredible domed stained glass window with trees on it.

From there I created some abstracted versions…one a little “leafier” than the other…

Abstract Tree Drawing

Julia & Richard really wanted a folded invitation, which allowed for the tree to be center stage!

LOVE their wedding colors and how they add to the overall stained glass feel of the tree.

Here’s a look at the full suite….

Thank you Julia & Richard!  It was wonderful working with you!  Hope your Big Day is spectacular!

It’s a high of 81 degrees here, but I’m guessing Nice Rink owners have benefited from the Polar Vortex this year.  I had the pleasure of designing their mugs this year, super fun change of pace!  Thanks Jill & Jim.

If you peeked at my maternity photos, you may have noticed my new Live Oak inspired jewelry by Savannah artist, Chris Carpentino.  Originally from Alaska, Chris came to Savannah and found great inspiration in our beautiful oaks.  His work takes real acorns and branches of Live Oaks and casts them into beautiful pieces of wearable art.  After discovering my work at Savannah Blueprint (my favorite printers in Savannah!)  he contacted me about drawing a Live Oak for him.  After seeing some samples of his work, I knew I HAD TO HAVE some for my own jewelry collection, so we started a little collaboration.

Live Oak Tree Skeleton

I worked up a tree skeleton for him referenced by a tree found in Historic Forsyth Park.

Live Oak Tree inspired bracelets by Savannah artist Chris Carpentino

Chris took real Savannah Live Oak branches and cast me this gorgeous set of cuffs (my photo does them no justice).  These are one of a kind prototypes, but he’ll be launching some similar works in his shop shortly!    He paired the cuffs with an equally unique pair of his copper acorn earrings.  *swoon*

I can’t wait to see what he cooks up next! Be sure to check out his work at www.thecopperacorn.com

The bride’s sister commissioned me to capture that quiet moment before the the guests arrived and the festivities began.  I can remember peeking out of the window at my own wedding to see everything set up, and Aunt Pam tossing flowers down the aisle like a little school girl.  That peaceful moment was so full of anticipation.
