Wesley Monumental sits on Calhoun Square and has been calling my name for years!  So happy I finally had time to draw it!

If you peeked at my maternity photos, you may have noticed my new Live Oak inspired jewelry by Savannah artist, Chris Carpentino.  Originally from Alaska, Chris came to Savannah and found great inspiration in our beautiful oaks.  His work takes real acorns and branches of Live Oaks and casts them into beautiful pieces of wearable art.  After discovering my work at Savannah Blueprint (my favorite printers in Savannah!)  he contacted me about drawing a Live Oak for him.  After seeing some samples of his work, I knew I HAD TO HAVE some for my own jewelry collection, so we started a little collaboration.

I worked up a tree skeleton for him referenced by a tree found in Historic Forsyth Park.

Chris took real Savannah Live Oak branches and cast me this gorgeous set of cuffs (my photo does them no justice).  These are one of a kind prototypes, but he’ll be launching some similar works in his shop shortly!    He paired the cuffs with an equally unique pair of his copper acorn earrings.  *swoon*

I can’t wait to see what he cooks up next! Be sure to check out his work at www.thecopperacorn.com

Some days I have to pinch myself for being so lucky to live and work in this artist filled town!   There is more inspiration to be found in Savannah, than time to execute the ideas that are generated from mingling with so many exceptional artists.  My friend Diana Daley represents one of these artists.  Not only does she have mad skills with her camera, she truly loves what she does with every fiber of her being, and it radiates through her photography.

So why did I want a maternity shoot?  Well…I may never do this again, so I better capture this time while it’s here…and let’s face it…pregnancy and the swollen feet and the extra 40 pounds and the morning sickness…and the mood swings…(you get the idea)  isn’t all that glamorous.  So to feel pretty for a day and celebrate the miracle that all this hard work is cooking up, is well worth it!  Thank you Diana for your professionalism, your friendship, and for these awesome photos!

One thing I love about Savannah are all the little hidden courtyards and carriage houses.  As if the houses on the street aren’t charming enough?!

Just before the start of the New Year, I was approached by Ash and Laurel of Ashley Hilton Jewellery to use one of my Oak Tree Drawings on a sample wedding band.  I’m always thrilled to work with other Etsy sellers, and I promptly agreed.  I could not have been happier with their translation of my drawing, except to find out that others wanted their very own Spanish Moss draped rings AND to hear that it was featured on Huff Post Weddings, May 1st!  What a way to start the month!
