the end

April 29, 2009

My Australian vacation ends here.

I’m not quite sure what Flat Heather did to deserve this, but at least Bekah made it back home.

January 4, 2009

This new gift bestowed on me by none other than Ms. Bekah.

I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I am a grade A doodler.  I’ve never put much thought into my scribbles, but according to Nancy S. Nelson, there’s much to learn from them.   I promise to alert you should any doodles unveil hidden gems, secrets to my past, or character traits that I didn’t know I had.  Oh the possibilities!  And if any of you doodle loving friends get your hands on a copy and want to participate, you never know, it could be fun.  Furthermore, just who is Nancy S. Nelson?

so many things…

August 8, 2008

happening in the studio right now!  For starters, did you happen to notice the new flikr box on the right?  Well, thanks to a little inspiration from this chickie, I finally got it up and running…I hope to post more shortly, so be sure to check it out once in a while…

In other news, the Pirate’s House mural is coming right along…I think I’ll boycott painting faux wood for a while after this…but now that the bulk of that is taken care of, I can start on the fun things…like pirates and parrots…here’s the latest photo…

On a final note, I have to thank Nick for being so helpful as of late.  When I’m heavily in the mix of creative ventures, I tend to be a little neglectful of things around the house…Nick’s made me dinner the past two nights and cleaned the house so we can have Bek and J over tonight…but best of all…he took it up himself to supply me with a my new best friend…check this out…

this little gem makes toting all my mural supplies that much easier…it also comes loaded with a lazy susan…and comes apart for easy lifting…

the only problem is that “Stanley” on the front…I think it should say “Heather”…not that Stanley is a bad name…it’s just not my name…so in due time, that will be remedied…

ps…for all you crafty lovin’ Savannah folk…be sure to check out tomorrow’s Farmer’s MarketRobin Lynne will have a table there, and you won’t want to miss it!

more than i expected…

to chop off that is…but it was a heck of a lot of fun and hopefully someone here will benefit from my long locks! I must say…no better scissors to do the trick than those of the Hair Princess! (Trust me folks, I’ve been going to her for 7 years, and never have I walked away with a bad cut or color) So here’s a 10 minute sketch of my new bed head this morning…still sassy!

Thanks Renata and Bekah for a supremely fun Friend-a-versary! Oh and for the complete run-down on our day, be sure to visit Bekah’s Blog…(real pics over there!)

p.s. It was great to see you again too Charla!

One more thing….

H-A-P-P-Y B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y Little Brosef of Mine! Love you and hope you have a super-fantastic day!

Can’t wait to see you at graduation!

That’s right folks…Ms. SassySweetPea and I are off to chop our tresses!  It will be a grand girlie day, as we are not only paying a visit to the Hair Princess…(aka Renata Duran…THE best hair dresser in all of Savannah!)… we will also be treating ourselves to a fancy lunch, and maybe a mini-shopping trip on Broughton…(although that just depends on how hot it gets around here today)

Here’s a brief snipit from our 4th of July celebration…for the full version including lots o lots of pictures visit Bekah’s Blog.

That’s Bekah on the left, and me on the right…

Just pretend folks…Nick and Jason were the ones that really smoked ’em.

And thankfully, they didn’t burn down the neighborhood…(with cigars or fireworks)

Good times my friends!  Thanks for making it special 🙂

works in progress…

July 2, 2008

19 small green things…(almost complete)

2 portraits

a website

birth announcement

conceptual sketches for a new mural

I am quite sure this list is not complete.  I’ve been a bit all over the place as of late, but good things…definitely good things.  A few more:

Special congrats to Bekah on her new job!  Pooler Elementary, you have no idea how lucky you are to have her…If Nick and I ever have children, she will be in charge of training them, teaching them manners, and discipline…(you need only look at my spoiled dog to know that discipline is not my forte)

Oh and for all you local Savannahians, be sure to pick up the latest copy of Savannah Magazine Robin Lynne’s work has been featured!

I’ll be sure to toast an extra drink to both you girls this 4th of July!

A few weeks ago my father paid a visit, and something he said just stuck with me…”you’ve got to have balance”…this of course, was after he heard the debate Nick and I had been having over the house. According to Nick…(and he is absolutely right…) I get on a train of thought, or all focused on an art project and my tunnel vision allows me to neglect things like…keeping up the house…or spending time with my friends…etc.

So I’ve been on this quest for balance…last week I had art camp with Bekah and killed two birds with one stone…art for fun and not for work, and spending time with a friend who I hadn’t seen since before Christmas…(this said, she lives less than a mile away from me…)

I’ve scheduled a night out with Cima…haven’t had one of those in an eternity…and this weekend is Granny’s birthday…so what better excuse to escape to the River for a few days…

But back to balance…how then do I fit in 5 pen & inks…design a mural for a nursery…2 logo designs…and launch my new product?…(which by the way, is a new line of canvas prints of my work…22 total…and I’m soooo excited about it hitting the market, I can’t sleep at night)…seems to me, it would make more sense to lock myself in my studio and chip away at this list before I ventured out to the River for family time…or over to Bekah’s for art camp. Balance Balance Balance.

Spoke with my father again last night, and told him about this quest of mine…and he replied…”after all, you are a virgo”…does that mean I’m doomed to never find this thing called balance? I’m open to suggestions…and while you’re pondering some brilliant advice…(and I’m all ears)…here’s an updated Akita Rescue logo…

Even though it would be a little more work…I think this image would be killer as a block print…(the same process as the Vayda-Valentine…)
