my new favorite t-shirt

June 25, 2010

Designed by a dear friend, and probably one of the most talented artists Nick and I have ever met.  Jason Jones (or Bob to us) was the first friend we made at SCAD. We were both illustration majors, with completely different styles, but a mutual respect for each others’ work.  He’s working as a tattoo artist in Springfield, MO these days, and when I saw this t-shirt, it had to be mine…I’m a sucker for birds anyway…

ps…sorry for the lack of posts here…I’ve been a busy bee in the studio…lots to share, but time escapes me!

Bald Eagle

March 19, 2010

The first Bald Eagle I’d ever seen in my life…(in the wild that is)… It was pure chance (or maybe the universe working its’ magic) that we had just been talking about them, when he appeared…at first sitting on the sand bar as if to enjoy a day at the beach.  By the time I got my camera out, he had taken flight, but not before I captured this shot.  We were on the way home, nearly to our dock on the Julienton when he arrived.  The perfect end to yet another magical Blackbeard trip.

Bald Eagle over the Julienton (a lousy title I think, feel free to make a suggestion)

deciphering doodles

Totally mindless doodles here…

If you believe the Diary:

Long Necks = I’m pretty conventional and moralistic…(some would agree)

Hard pressure applied with use of pen = indicates tension…(not too much of a stretch)

Bird (if you call that a bird) = “high flying” ideals, the wish to fly away, the ability to rise above earthly problems (he does kind of resemble an alien?)

Rabbits = represents speed and sexual immaturity?

Long Legs = say I’m self-reliant (I’ll take this one)

Large Eyes = I’m suspicious, hypersensitive, and occasionally hysterical.   hmmm….

I’ve concluded that all of this must be taken with a grain of salt, as the book provides no real definition for the common thread found here…antlers?

So I was in the Taco Bell drive through yesterday, when I noticed…right next to my car…a hawk with his own dinner of sorts.  Go figure, the service was slow, and I happened to have my camera handy.

So my week has pretty much been turned over to doctors…nothing serious…(at least I hope not)…but some unexpected…and if you know me well, or have spent considerable time on this blog…you know that I am a meticulous planner…throwing me a whole week off course, is certain to cause some anxiety down the road. Alas…today will officially be my last day with this

per doctor’s orders. They leave me no choice but to bid farewell to this friend…(again)…let’s hope this time does the trick.

On a lighter note….and for you dahling Bekah…I applied the following to my blue linen skirt. Not bad (i don’t think) for my first attempt. I plan on embellishing my red linen with the yellow pattern in the previous post.
