The first of March starts the official countdown to St. Pat’s here in Savannah, and what better way to celebrate than to give away some green?  Up for grabs are two of my favorite prints from the Eat Your Greens Series, Sublime and Granny J’s Jello.  All you have to do is leave a comment to this blog post and you’ll be entered into a random drawing to win both prints.  The winner will be announced on St. Patrick’s Day.  May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Thanks to a “heads up” by the lovely Victoria Bennett Beyer, I found out about a little contest, and sure enough, made the cut!  Thanks for the lovely write up Simply Hue!

and the winner is…

December 24, 2008

the house with the Yellow Windows!  Did you figure it out?  Did you guess it was mine 🙂  It was a tight race and a fierce competition, but yellow takes the win with 4 more votes than blue.  Finally, some redemption for the humiliating loss a few years back.

Nick, I love you mucho!   It was a great challenge.   I suppose we’re tied on artful food sculpture contests…so we’ll have to come up with something grand for a tie breaker.  Oh and we might blow up old blue with fireworks today…(Dad’s idea, not mine)

Thanks to everyone who helped settle the score and placed a vote…(especially all you yellow house fans 🙂  Wishing you all a very Merry (almost) Christmas!

We need your vote!

December 22, 2008

A few years back, Nick and I had a pumpkin carving contest.  These were pre-blog days, and the judging was far from anonymous.  We simply emailed all our family and friends and asked them to cast a vote.  I suffered a bitter defeat that Halloween, and it has haunted me ever since.  So when Nick challenged me to a gingerbread house competition, how could I resist?

Here’s how it works…Take a look at the photos below…(in an effort to be fair, we won’t tell you whose is whose)…note that one house has blue windows while the other has yellow.  Then, cast your totally anonymous vote below for your favorite.  The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve.

Can you believe it? I’ve been pluggin’ away at this whole blog world now for a good 365 days. I never dreamed when I started this little adventure, that people would actually find interest in the life of a quirky southern artist…let alone that it would introduce me to so many wonderful friends, artists, colleagues, interesting folks, and more. Within one month of starting this little blog, traffic had more than doubled to my website, and has yet to drop since!

I am incredibly grateful to all of you who have subscribed to this blog, shared your comments and well-wishes with me, posted links, and spread the word! It’s been an incredible journey, and the only way I see fit to thank you all…is to have a Blog-A-Versary Give-A-Way!!! I picked the following Foodie Print for two reasons:

1. I’m drinking it for breakfast…(much like Lee Lee used to do)

2. Lee Lee’s Sweet Tea was one of the original Southern Girl’s Cookbook illustrations, that landed me the gig with the fabulous Skirt! Magazine, and sparked my interest in Food Illustration. So there you have it…
