good things…

February 4, 2009

Everybody likes to harp on the negative…the economy…the slower sales…the yata yata yata, and I’m not going to lie, I’ve experienced a little lull just like the rest of you folks out there.  I’ve had to work a lot harder to rope in commissions and reach a broader market, but in the midst of all this negativity, there is something happening in the arts that really gives me hope.

I’ve seen artists across the board working very hard to support and promote each others work.  I’ve seen locals pulling together markets, art shows, and festivals, on shoestring budgets just to get the word out…I’ve seen galleries on the verge of closing shop, stay afloat by artists willing to volunteer their time.  I’ve seen more artists sharing their blog forums to promote other artists work.  It’s so wonderful to ride out the storm with such a great support system of like-minded people.  I can’t thank you all enough!

Oh and speaking of sharing the love…PaperMichelle was kind enough to feature me on her bloggity blog…CLICK! As did  AJ all the way in Canada! ..CLICK! I’ve added both these gals to the blog list, so be sure to see what they’re up to from time to time.

In other happy news…I received my Glass Diamonds Print from the ever so talented Victoria Bennett Beyer today!!!  It’s even more gorgeous in real life, I’ll be sure to post more on this little gem when I get her all framed and happy.  AND…(saving the best for last you know…)  My new printer is here, and fired up!  New prints and a new Etsy store are in the works…It’s like Christmas!

whew! life is a whirlwind…

February 2, 2009

This weekend, we celebrated Granny J’s 80th birthday with a family meal at the Pirate’s House.  So many times my mural work occupies a private residence, so it’s always great when my family can see one in real life.  Just look at those happy pirates…

It was great fun indeed!

Mom also made her way to Savannah for the weekend, and we had a lovely time scouring wedding magazines and hunting for that perfect “mother-of-the-bride dress”….eeek, some of those ones with the jackets are horrendous!  Glad we started the hunt early.

Well, I better go clear out a spot in the studio for my new epson baby! It’s due to arrive today, and I can’t wait to try it out…oh it will be like Christmas!

In other exciting news, I bought the Epson!  I can’t wait to get  my hands on it…looks like it’s set to arrive on Monday…oh it will be like Christmas!  Thanks to all of you who helped steer me in that direction.

feeling torn…

January 27, 2009

Sorry to have neglected you blog lovin’ folk!  I must say, January always seems the month to tie up loose ends, attend to the real business side of things…revamping this, tweaking that, and taxes…ugh….taxes!  Oh and we bought a wii…so yeah, a little distracted to say the least.  The other missing part seems to be inspiration…since my printer is a jerk…(there I said it)…I’ve had to fore go many of my initial January plans, and search for inspiration elsewhere.  I have an idea of the direction in which I want to take things, but it hasn’t exactly beat me in the head or anything…so I’m holding out.

According to Nick, I’ve been talking up a storm in my sleep about printers…I’m still torn as to which beast to go with…which one would you go with?
