Weekend Recap

May 3, 2010

Nick, Vayda and I took a trip down to Amelia Island this past weekend, where we stayed with my brother and his lovely gal, Liz.  I could not wait to meet my new nephew, Gibson…

Gibson Mutt Baby

at just 14 weeks of age, he is already the size of Vayda…just look at those big dog paws!  It should be noted, that while Vayda was tolerant of the new gangly legged pup, she was less than thrilled to see another Granddog running around her “vacation” home.   I tried in vain to get a picture of them together, but the Diva would not have it.

While there,  I also whipped up a little cursive for Dad’s kitchen wall.  “Bella Cucina” has a nice ring to it…no?I believe the translation is “Beautiful Kitchen” in Italian…

Bella Cucina Script on Kitchen Wall

A much easier task than one would think.  If you’d like the step by step tutorial, leave me a comment.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Went home to Amelia Island this weekend.  Dad gave us the 4×4 tour of some areas I had never seen.  A real treat…and it keeps with the theme I’ve been cooking up in my head.  Now if I can just squeeze in a moment to paint for me.

This view of Fort Clinch reminds me of fairy tales.  I love the tree and the color of the sky, divine.

The southern most tip of the island is filled with dunes, and curvy swirvy dead trees, that no doubt will become driftwood one day.  It’s a peaceful place.

Even the Vayda-monster took a moment to relax.  Good times.

oh boy…

July 31, 2008

It’s been an insanely busy couple of days around here.  Just when I was worried about a “summer lull,” things have really heated up!  Here’s the long and short of it…

I joined Twitter…so those of you who want to keep up with the madness…can!  I encourage you to give it a try, as it seems like a neat way to stay connected.

Nick, Vayda and I are planning a weekend in Fernandina, in celebration of my brother’s…(or little Brosef, as I like to call him)…college graduation.  It should be fun to get the whole funky bunch together…but so many loose ends to tie up before we leave.

For those of you just bursting at the seams for a Vayda-dog update…she too, will be joining us this weekend.  She had a most luxurious day today, as she visited her friends at First Chatham Bank…you know they treat her like royalty over there…and she had a trip to the spa to get her nails trimmed and ears cleaned prior to party time.  Don’t want my daughter looking like a drowned rat when she sees distant relatives for the first time in a spell.

On an especially happy note, Nick found about 5 years worth of photos that I thought were lost in the new computer transfer.  I was sick for days when I thought I had lost that chapter in our lives…I’m thinking a good solid backup is in order this time around.

And lastly, I had a few hours to prep the walls at the Pirate’s House yesterday.  I’m itching for my new paint to arrive, but it looks as if it will show after our departure tomorrow…which will likely delay the paint start date until Tuesday…what can you do?  Here’s your before photo of Captain Flint’s Hall.

Isn’t it dreamy?  Hurry UPS man, bring me some paint!

I’m not sure I know of anyone that works quite as hard as my Dad. Most people who know him, wonder how he’s able to manage so much and still keep that smile on his face. He is compassionate beyond words, more generous than most, and an inspiration to all who meet him. I am truly lucky to call him Dad…and if ever someone deserved something truly special for Father’s Day…it’s him…check this out…

He finally bought the beast…(which has been affectionately named “Eagle One”)

(Click photos to enlarge them)

My Brosef was the first to ride…you can bet he’ll be making a two-wheel purchase as soon as he returns from a 3 month trip to Costa Rica…(I’m sure Uncle Richard won’t be far behind either…I mean Pam would make for a hot biker chick 🙂

Of course, any such purchase must first be approved by Lee Anne…

I’d say by the looks of that smile, it didn’t take much convincing.

Of course, now that they have been initiated into the Harley lifestyle…it won’t be hard to shop for them…On my way down to Florida, I found this little gem…

Dad liked it…can’t you tell? Now all they need are matching tattoos…(hehehehehe)

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to ride Eagle One…the rains came, and I had to return to the studio…but I had a most marvelous time hanging with the Fernandina gang.

Happy Father’s Day Dad…and please be careful on that thing….love you all mucho!

double trouble…

March 9, 2008

Yesterday, dear Aunt Pammy and I ventured to Fernandina Beach for a belated birthday celebration with Lee Anne.  We started our adventure at the Landings Garage Sale…where we were herded like cattle…(we weren’t too fond of this…)  but we couldn’t leave empty handed.  So Pam bought a lovely green pumpkin / gourd / soup bowl thingy for her new kitchen…and I found another silk scarf… (for my collection of silk scarves that are rarely worn, but bring sheer delight when I see them in my closet)…

As we made our way down I-95, I discovered that Aunt Pammy (always prepared to have a good time)…had some handy accessories for us…(keep reading I’ll disclose said items in due time…)

Amidst all the traffic on I-95, I pulled up behind a van of 9 or 10 young men.  One of which had his face pressed up against the rear window….something like this…

(okay I know I’m an illustrator, but I couldn’t justify spending a lot of time on this sketch)

It was clear he was looking to get a rise out of someone…so we combated with this…

to which his response was…

Good times, Aunt Pammy, good times!
