feeling torn…

January 27, 2009

Sorry to have neglected you blog lovin’ folk!  I must say, January always seems the month to tie up loose ends, attend to the real business side of things…revamping this, tweaking that, and taxes…ugh….taxes!  Oh and we bought a wii…so yeah, a little distracted to say the least.  The other missing part seems to be inspiration…since my printer is a jerk…(there I said it)…I’ve had to fore go many of my initial January plans, and search for inspiration elsewhere.  I have an idea of the direction in which I want to take things, but it hasn’t exactly beat me in the head or anything…so I’m holding out.

According to Nick, I’ve been talking up a storm in my sleep about printers…I’m still torn as to which beast to go with…which one would you go with?

feed the beast…

January 19, 2009

Yep…today’s one of those days when I  just need to throw some paint around, for no good reason other than to nurture the creative spirit that’s been tied to this computer, mountains of email and messages, wedding wedding wedding, and blah blah blah.  You get what I’m saying…right?… I’ve not got the time to explain…but should you happen to call / email / knock on my studio door…don’t be offended should I not respond…I’m just feeding the beast so to speak…I mean, it is a national holiday right?

it occurs to me…

that on this early Friday morning, we are nearing (among other events) Valentine’s Day! Before my schedule heats up, be sure to get your custom pen & ink drawings commissioned.  I mean what could be sweeter than an elegant sketch of your love nest?  Or surprise your sweetie with a sketch of their childhood home!  All I need are the best photos you can find…(if you’re local to Savannah, I’ll gladly take them for you)  Oh and if you get your order in quick, there will still be time for my friends at Turtle Creek to print your custom drawing onto beautiful Crane Stationery! Skip on over to The Ink Lab for more information.

Oh and speaking of Turtle Creek…I’ve got their very own custom ink in the works…here’s the rough pencil sketch…

Final pen & ink to follow shortly!

Wishing you all a super-fab Friday!

mindless doodles…

November 22, 2008

While cleaning the train wreck that I call a studio, I came across this mindless doodle.  This one was created for no other reason than I was talking on the phone and had a pen in hand.  Back in those college art history days, I could barely read my notes after class, as I had drawn a thousand mindless doodles over them.    So don’t read too much into this little gem…after all it is Saturday…

Things are Picking Up!

November 12, 2008

I really love this time of year.  Meeting and working with new clients, reconnecting with some from years gone by.  So many different directions from which to work.  It keeps everything fresh and exciting.  Anywho, here’s the latest ink.  I just fell in love with this old live oak.

There’s still time to commission your very own ink for the super-sale price of $200!  (that’s a savings of $50!)  Just shoot me an email or visit The Ink Lab to get started.  Oh yeah, and you don’t have to be local.  It’s very common for me to work from photographs.  We can even have your ink printed on luxurious note cards, or have prints made of the old family home.  It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Wishing you all a very happy Wednesday!

The Holidays are right around the corner!  Now’s the time to get your custom pen & ink drawing started, and for a little incentive, I’ve dropped the price from $250 to $200!  So commission that ink, and use the extra $50 to order 50 fabulously matching note cards!

Here’s how the process works:

1.  I start with a photograph.  You can supply a photo of your old family home, your cousins house in Wyoming, or if you’re local to Savannah, I prefer to take my own shots.

2.  I draw up a pencil sketch for your approval.  You tell me if I’ve missed that ever-so-unique weather-vane, or little detail that makes your house a home.

3.  We make any final adjustments, and then it’s time to play with ink.  Your final image is an 11×14 inch drawing with archival ink, and comes with a black mat and a sassy pinwheel bow.

4.  Last, but certainly  not least, for a $1 per note,  you can have your house printed on fine Crane Stationery from my friends at Turtle Creek.  Perfect for that “anytime” note!

I’ve even had small prints made of the old family home, so that everyone in the family can have a memory of that special place!  The possibilities are endless!

So take advantage of that low rate, and availability…(last year my schedule booked up pretty fast)…and commission your ink today!  You can do so easily via The Ink Lab, or if you’d rather not have to “sign in” to etsy, then just shoot me an email at Heather@FLYoungStudio.com and I’ll send you an invoice.

Thanks for stopping by!
