Very much a work in progress (as is my house.)

It’s likely she burned it down.

day 4 mural detail

The map is starting to take shape.

Since we’re going for an aged map, it makes sense to allow for some dry brush, and imperfections.  I rather enjoy painting text like this.

Still a ways to go, but thank goodness…no faux wood.

That’s right!  I’m going back to the Pirate’s House for another 23 feet of wall space!  This project really could not have come at a better time.  Life has become so terribly hectic as of late…it will be such a reprieve to pour my soul into a big project, turn the ipod on and the cell phone off, and ignore the madness in the world around me…(much of which, I admit, I created)…Here’s the very first preliminary sketch…I’m already well into revisions…

a little nostalgia

May 1, 2009

for your Friday.  At sixteen I was given $50, some paint, and a wall in my neighbor’s nursery.  Pretty bold folks if you ask me.

Me and my very first client.  circa 1996.

whew! life is a whirlwind…

This weekend, we celebrated Granny J’s 80th birthday with a family meal at the Pirate’s House.  So many times my mural work occupies a private residence, so it’s always great when my family can see one in real life.  Just look at those happy pirates…

It was great fun indeed!

Mom also made her way to Savannah for the weekend, and we had a lovely time scouring wedding magazines and hunting for that perfect “mother-of-the-bride dress”….eeek, some of those ones with the jackets are horrendous!  Glad we started the hunt early.

Well, I better go clear out a spot in the studio for my new epson baby! It’s due to arrive today, and I can’t wait to try it out…oh it will be like Christmas!

whew! am i done yet?

I spent an entire day yesterday updating this, updating that, and totally  missing out on one of the most glorious days of the year.  Ugh!  What’s sad is that I haven’t even made it to the stack of filing on my desk.  I’m such a procrastinator when it comes to updating my own website, I’ve taken to only doing a major update once a year, and I know the filing would be so much easier if I just kept up with it…but could there be a worse chore?  All I want to do is paint…I suppose I’ll have to hire an intern one day, or get a pet monkey, or make babies for the sole purpose of running my little one woman factory….anywho…am I rambling?  I think I am…here’s the list (the only blessing that comes from a day of laborious chores, is a list to make me feel somewhat accomplished)

A Mural for Lab Lovers

6 New Pet Portraits

11 Homes (the tip of the iceberg)

1 Commercial Property

A few tweaks to this and that…and well…you might as well just go explore, as I’ve only got 2 hours to update my mural book before I meet with  a client.  Yikes!
