So this painting/portrait/illo has been hanging around my studio now for nearly 8 months.  To be honest, it’s haunted me a bit.  After the initial 12 layers or so of oil wash, I was so satisfied with the rich blue, monochromatic, focal-shifting, composition, that I was scared to add color. (click! to see previous version) Yet something about it just screamed “incomplete.”  I would hide it out of sight for a while, only to rearrange the studio and find it staring back at me again.    It was a vicious cycle I tell you…

super quick update / post

September 3, 2008

I’m ankle deep in several projects at the moment…sadly, nothing is quite post worthy…so I figured today would be a good day to thank Esther and Estella for featuring my Bluest Eye painting on their nifty mother-daughter blog.  (Click!)

And while the following treasury was posted during August, and I already had one other oyster treasury in a month without an “r”, I saved it for September…(for freshness….)

Special thanks to Flight Fancy and her keen eye for including my oysters in such a lovely display.

Back to the drawing board for me this morning!  Thanks for stopping by 🙂
