A photo of me (circa 2003) taken by long lost friend, and talented photographer, Cecilia Marshall.
Ceci, if you’re reading this, I’d love to reconnect…oh and do share your method, as I’ve completely forgotten how this print was processed. It’s been applied to a heavy-weight print-making paper, and as I recall, the variations (like “antler” neck) were all happy accidents.

The very talented Victoria Bennett Beyer happened to catch one of my pups on the Etsy Home Page! Thanks for saving this image for me Vicki…Oh and in celebration of her own Etsy Anniversary, she’s giving away a wonderful print on her blog. Check it out!
Secret Valentine #2
February 18, 2010
It’s always fun to paint something that you would fancy in your own home. It’s even more fun to paint it, knowing that it’s a special Valentine’s Day surprise. And, as if it could possibly get any better, I got to paint it for the oh so talented Jade McCully. Trust me, her photos will be much better than my sneak peek below…but you get the idea…
Birch trees on a crisp yellow-green. Loves it!
out of control

and out of focus for that matter.
This (along with spacey blog posts) are the result of wedding prep and house hunt and family obligation. Please forgive. Even if I found the inspiration, I wouldn’t know what to do with it, or how to organize it right now. If Vickie lived within a three state radius, I’d commission her to give my studio some much needed love. Just look at how conducive her space is to creativity? Dreamy. I know.
Take a Closer Look…

at the work of Victoria Bennett Beyer.
I’ve been meaning to write this post ever since I got my hands on Vickie’s fabulous Glass Diamonds print. That print had stared at me for months…something, which on the surface seems so simple, but upon a closer take reveals so many little intricate details, that’s what Vickie’s world is all about. She captures the things we would overlook, and gives a new perspective to them.
I’m still hunting the perfect spot…but I couldn’t resist this subtly detailed frame when I saw it…perfect!
Branching Out No. 4 – 8″x12″ (This one is my new fav)
Victoria has two etsy shops, one a Mother-Daughter shop she shares with her equally artistic Mom, Milemarker.etsy.com, and she just launched a store exclusively for her paintings, Milemarker2. Oh and if you want the very latest on Vickie’s work…check out her blog…which is conveniently located on my Friends list (right hand column of this blog).
To sum things up, I am called back to a quote by the late great Georiga O’keeffe —“Nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small it takes time – we haven’t time – and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time”
Today, I will take time. (thanks for the reminder Vickie.)

I am one lucky bride-to-be! Mom and I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Jade McCully yesterday. I won’t lie, I have been drooling over her wedding photography for months now. Aside from being a fellow SCAD grad, she has a modern and creative take on wedding photos…an “artist’s artist” if you will…She is a true gem and the kind of person I would allow total creative freedom to without so much as a drop of worry. She feels like an old friend, and I’m sure her personality will make my introverted groom a little more comfortable on one of the most nerve-wracking days of his life. Anyhoo…here’s a sampling of her work…but do check out her website, www.jademccullyphotography.com.

Thank you Jade for a swell lunch and all the resources…I soooooo cannot wait to work with you! (oh and thank you too Mom !-)
