Sorry to you all for neglecting my little piece of the web here…Nick and I are on our way to Hilton Head for the weekend, but in my mind I’m already sipping a margarita by the sea! And since I won’t be blogging til my return, I would like to thank the crew at Laser Health Savannah….(one day in advance of my first smoke-free week) for all their wonderful service, friendliness, and support. I promise to never be one of those reformed smokers that looks down my nose at those who still smoke…but if you would like to say goodbye to your “evil little friend”…these are the folks you should know! And in case you missed it, Carrots for Skirt! Magazine October 2007. (They are a great substitute for my long lost evil little friend) Happy Friday to all!

44 hours….

October 8, 2007

44 hours since my last puff…(who knew this blog would turn into the diary of a quitter…) Anywho, thanks to all of you who have helped me through this…I must say, day one after the treatment, was the worst…yesterday, I woke up feeling superb…great night’s rest, energetic, and a super sensitive nose…I kept myself busy so as not to think about it, but no real cravings, just the habit of having one in various situations…I find it hard to sit on my usual spot on the couch, or on the computer for too long…but this too shall pass.  The real testament will be going to the workplace today.  Second-hand temptation will be all around me…but tomorrow I go in for another treatment, so hopefully that will end the urge…In brighter news, my grandmother…(who has quit a million times and started back) has decided to quit with me…

and so it begins…

October 6, 2007

It’s 5:34pm, and exactly 4 hours and 52 minutes since my last puff of a cigarette.  I received my first Laser Treatment today, and though a bit nervous at first….I found the procedure painless, relaxing even…I was in and out in a short amount of time….turned loose with a bag full of craving killers (gum, candy, raisins), an arsenal of reasons not to smoke (I did draw up my own list this morning), and the numbers for various “quitters” hot-lines.  Oddly enough, I happened to remember an award winning poster designed by none other than yours truly…(executed during those highly charged nicotine filled college days)…see below….

After attending the Business Expo…(a shark tank at it’s finest)…I received a call, that I had won a series of treatments that will help me quit the cancer sticks, reduce stress, and lose weight…hmmm….considering I never win anything of real value, I took this as a sign I need to improve on my current lifestyle…the other “sign” came when my Mother arrived in town, and her first words….”wow you’ve got a bit of a belly”…followed by “at least no one can say you look anorexic anymore”…hmmm…got me thinking I really do need to start taking better care of myself….I’ve finally made the switch to diet soda…and bought the “light” mayo at the grocery last night…I’d also like to apologize in advance to anyone who may come in contact with me while I’m craving fatty food, and nicotine.

A portrait of my future diet…
