For those of you who aren’t local to Savannah, we’ve been having some heavy rains as of late.  Quite frankly, there is no prettier city after a good rain than Savannah, Georgia.  Biased?  Perhaps, but I have lived in many states, and this one place, just seems to take the cake.  The moss draped trees, and resurrection fern, the hazy mist that just hovers over our parks and squares, and the lush green that flourishes after.  The other day, after a  fierce storm (we lost power for about 10 hours, and had many downed limbs)..not particularly fun, but as the events of the day began to snowball, we stepped out and found this…just what I needed to see, at that very moment.  A full arch rainbow, the true beauty of which cannot be captured in my crummy photograph…but I needed this.

Speaking of rainbows, I know no bigger fan of them, than the talented  Robin Lynne. Did you all see she was a featured etsy seller?!?!?! Super congrats Robin, I can only imagine how good your house smells after baking soap like a madwoman for the past week!

right on target…

Maybe I’m speaking too soon…but sometimes things seem to align just right.  I’ve only got two coats of oil wash, but already the color is just as I had planned.

In other news, talented artista and web promo maven,  Robin Lynne, has got me all wrapped up in a new site.  Made By Hand. BY ME, is a free place to promote your wares and network with other artists.  The site even offers a “spotlight” feature similar to etsy’s treasury concept, except that I don’t have to do math for three hours to find out when one will become available.  It’s a fresh site on the scene, with real potential to grow.  If you’re looking to reach a broader market and like free promo, CHECK IT OUT!

So mark your calendars and come out to support local artists!  Oh and did I mention, I’ll be having my first ever SALE on the Foodie Prints! This is an event you surely do not want to miss!

If you’d like in on all the Bazaar fun, be sure to visit for info on how you too can showcase your works….(I’m pretty sure that even though today is the deadline, there’s a space or two left for ya!)

Had an all around great weekend…on Saturday, I finally had a chance to check out the Starland Farmer’s Market, and meet Robin Lynne, who happened to have a nice selection of work there.  I purchased my first ever ACEO’s from her, and I love them love them love them!  I can’t wait to get them matted and framed…

I also had a few minutes to work on the Pirate’s House mural…

Lastly, I woke up this morning to an etsy convo from Ms. Milemarker herself…she noticed that someone else used Lee Lee’s Sweet Tea in a Treasury, and was so kind as to make me aware of it…so far as I know, this is only my second treasury on etsy…be sure to check it out!

and now it’s time to get the heck out of here, and go paint!  Hope you all have a lovely Monday, and thanks for reading 🙂

so many things…

August 8, 2008

happening in the studio right now!  For starters, did you happen to notice the new flikr box on the right?  Well, thanks to a little inspiration from this chickie, I finally got it up and running…I hope to post more shortly, so be sure to check it out once in a while…

In other news, the Pirate’s House mural is coming right along…I think I’ll boycott painting faux wood for a while after this…but now that the bulk of that is taken care of, I can start on the fun things…like pirates and parrots…here’s the latest photo…

On a final note, I have to thank Nick for being so helpful as of late.  When I’m heavily in the mix of creative ventures, I tend to be a little neglectful of things around the house…Nick’s made me dinner the past two nights and cleaned the house so we can have Bek and J over tonight…but best of all…he took it up himself to supply me with a my new best friend…check this out…

this little gem makes toting all my mural supplies that much easier…it also comes loaded with a lazy susan…and comes apart for easy lifting…

the only problem is that “Stanley” on the front…I think it should say “Heather”…not that Stanley is a bad name…it’s just not my name…so in due time, that will be remedied…

ps…for all you crafty lovin’ Savannah folk…be sure to check out tomorrow’s Farmer’s MarketRobin Lynne will have a table there, and you won’t want to miss it!

works in progress…

July 2, 2008

19 small green things…(almost complete)

2 portraits

a website

birth announcement

conceptual sketches for a new mural

I am quite sure this list is not complete.  I’ve been a bit all over the place as of late, but good things…definitely good things.  A few more:

Special congrats to Bekah on her new job!  Pooler Elementary, you have no idea how lucky you are to have her…If Nick and I ever have children, she will be in charge of training them, teaching them manners, and discipline…(you need only look at my spoiled dog to know that discipline is not my forte)

Oh and for all you local Savannahians, be sure to pick up the latest copy of Savannah Magazine Robin Lynne’s work has been featured!

I’ll be sure to toast an extra drink to both you girls this 4th of July!

June 25, 2008

most days I hate it…bills bills bills…you know, when you’re a kid, that trip to the mailbox is magical…especially around your birthday. When you’re a kid, all the mail you ever get is good…

For some people…(Dad I know you’re one of them)…checking the mail on a daily basis is a must. I, on the other hand, refuse to check the mail unless I’m pretty darn sure there will be a check, a present, a magazine, or something to stave off the depression of opening up bills.

Today was a doubly lucky day! Not only did I get my hands on a much needed present from my bestie…

(ok…so most days I wear my ratty-tatty flip flops, but for the occasional day when I need to rock those sassy heels, this is a MUST)

I also received my new birdie earrings from local artist Robin Lynne!

(Robin, I’m terribly sorry my photo skills do them no justice)

ps. I hope you’ll take a minute to visit Robin’s site…she is a super talented gem of a gal, with interests in photography, jewelry, and soap making!
