Whoa! Happy New Year!

January 1, 2013

How exactly did it get to be 2013?!  I’m still playing mad catch up from 2012.  (The year that will go down in my personal history as “the one that got away”) I hesitate to make it an official resolution, perhaps rather a goal, but I’m shooting to keep you all MUCH more up-to-date this year.  Here’s a peek at some of the Christmas commissions that couldn’t be posted until the New Year…many, many more to come!

Love love love the Harper Fowlkes House!  Beautiful inside and out, and it’s been on my list to draw for ages.  (my right hand is still crippled from all the last minute details applied last night) The original has been sold, but you can bet I’ll be offering some variety of prints in the not-so-distant future.

Such magnificent trees!  I have a feeling there will be more of these to come.

It’s almost therapeutic to draw all the little details in Savannah ironwork.  I really enjoyed pulling this one together.

Gordonston Magnolia

July 9, 2011

I waited months for this Magnolia tree to bloom. Complete with a sweet little swing, it is by far, the most perfect specimen I’ve seen in Savannah.  While I usually work in a series, this one might stand alone.  Unless, I can find the Windsor Forest Giant that my brother and I spent countless summers climbing…sentimental value and what not…

I love drawing historic properties, and this Federal Style home on Lincoln Street is no exception.  Built in 1799 for William Barnard, it must have a million stories to tell.   In 1812, the house became the first Methodist parsonage in Savannah.  It also served as a Presbyterian manse as recently as the 1970’s.

I’m a little sad that the iron gate designed by Ivan Bailey didn’t make the drawing…

Splendid, no?
