8×10″ Acrylic & Oil Wash on Illustration Board ©2013
I hate to be one of those people advertising Christmas before Halloween has run its course, but my painting schedule does fill fast! Be sure to email heather@flyoungstudio.com if you’d like to get on the list.
***Come the start of 2014, I’ll be raising my fee for Pet Portraits considerably. They are truly a labor of love, but they take many layers of oil paint and lots of hours of work to complete. Anyone that gets on the list before December 31st, 2013 will get the old rate of $250 for an 8×10″.

Really beginning to think I am destined to own a pug (rescue) one day…I mean, look what happened after The Year of the French Bulldog?
*note* the current deadline for Holiday Pet Portrait Commissions is December 5th. (subject to change if my schedule books up) email heather@flyoungstudio.com or visit Vayda’s Pet Shop to get started.
It’s the Year of the Pug
September 29, 2011
My 3rd Pug Portrait of the year just arrived, and it reminded me that I never shared pictures of Frank! Perhaps you remember K-9 Officer Bully? Well, this is Bully’s brother, secretly commissioned by my friend Jill’s husband. (so nice!) I poured over several pictures of Frank, and even though we’ve never formally met, I can tell he has quite the personality. Seriously loved painting every wrinkle on this dog!
Jill and Jeff were kind enough to snap a few pics of the dogs with their portraits. (wish my dogs would pose like this…if I so much as think about getting the camera out, the run like mad)
Think they approve?
Oh and not to nag, but if you’re pondering a custom pet portrait for a holiday gift, now’s a good time to get on board! Each portrait requires several layers of oil paint and lots of drying time, so space is limited. Visit VaydasPetShop.etsy.com for commissioning info and the main gallery for a look at pet portraits from years gone by.

Custom Art for Christmas
October 18, 2010
If you’ve been pondering that portrait of Fido or a sketch of your childhood home, now is the time to get on the list. My schedule fills fast this time of year, and I’ve got some serious holiday travel lined up. Only 68 days left until Christmas! Eeeeeek!
No house is too big or too small and I’m a sucker for just about any furry baby! All I need are some awesome photos to work from, and a little bit of time. I can also make archival prints of the original work so that other friends and family members can have a little memento too!
Most importantly, I want to remind you all to consider buying handmade this year and supporting your local art community. Aside from bringing home the most unique gifts, you’ll also be keeping people like myself from having to get a “real” job…(I hear there’s not many of those anyway)…so keep it quirky, and buy handmade!
